2020 Paddle Australia Canoe Slalom Championships

We are holding the 2020 PA Canoe Slalom Championships at Penrith between 9th and 12th January 2020 at Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

Paddle Australia Canoe Slalom Championships – Open only event

This will be generally in accordance with ICF Competition Rules modified where necessary to suit our site, time restrictions etc.

Training

Training slots on Tuesday 7 January 9.00 am & 5.00 pm & Wednesday 8 January 9.00 am & 5.00 pm.

30 boats per session – at present proposal is for NSW & Tas paddlers one session and WA and Vic paddlers the second session. Bookings are through PWS.

The sessions can only run with sufficient numbers.

1 class – $100.00

Multiple classes $150.00 (maximum 3 classes)

Extreme Race

As part of the 2020 PA Canoe Slalom Championships at Penrith White Water Stadium we will be holding an Extreme Race in accordance with the ICF Regulations. The format will be similar to that used at the recent World Cups and include:-

Start – at the top pond

Finish – Approximately 20 Metres above bottom drop.

Boats – In accordance with ICF requirements ie. Creek type boats

Classes – K1 only, K1M and K1W

Format 

This will be generally in accordance with ICF Competition Rules modified where necessary to suit our site, time restrictions etc.

Qualification – This will be a single run down the course timed to determine the starting positions of the paddlers for the Quarter finals. No gates will be installed for this part of the race and pit will be an individual run only.

Quarter Final – A course will be set for this phase of the competition of upstream and downstream of single pole gates and a roll zone. The quarter finals will comprise of 16 paddlers (target split for this is 10 Senior paddlers maximum with balance from the Under 18’s class). Starting positions will be in accordance with ICF’s Progression System and the race will consist of 4 x paddlers in each group starting from the top pond. The 1st and 2nd  paddlers will progress to the Semi Finals.

Semi Final – Will be on a similar basis to the Quarter finals with the top 2 paddlers from each race progressing to the final.

Final – The top 4 boats (2 from each Semi Final race).

The start position will be either an Eddy Start or if funding allows a Start Ramp.

Date

The Race will be held on Sunday 12th January 2020 – starting approx. 10.00am

Boat Hire

We encourage all to provide their own boat however we will try to have some boats available to hire/share at approx. $25 per person (this will depend on numbers).

$50.00 entry fee (own boat)

$75.00 hire boat from boat pool.
