Rio-bound paracanoeist Curtis McGrath has shown he is in good form ahead of this year’s Paralympic Games in Brazil by winning a gold medal in a rowing event at the Invictus Games in Orlando, Florida.
McGrath, who has also been competing in swimming events at the second ever Invictus Games, finished first in the one-minute rowing event.
The Invictus Games is for soldiers who have been injured during combat.
28-year-old McGrath lost both his legs when he stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan in 2012.
He has since established himself as one of the world’s premiere paracanoeists, and will be a medal favourite at the Rio Paralympics later this year.
McGrath also competed in the inaugural 2014 Invictus Games, taking part in archery and swimming events.
He will head to Germany after the Invictus Games to join his Australian teammates ahead of the Paracanoe World Championships.
