2021 Canoe Slalom Selection Event, 15 – 18 April

Following the success of the 2021 Penrith Open Series we are now ready to focus on the 2021 Australian Canoe Slalom Team Selection being held in Penrith in April.

The selection event is being held from the 15th – 18th April and will be a selection event for the 2021 Junior, U23 & Senior World Cup & World Championships Team.

Below is an outline of the race opportunities where athletes can gain their MPS and their overall ranking and the selection event.

*If a Junior athlete doesn’t progress to the semi-final & final stage, they will compete in an invitational race.

Thursday 15th April 10:00 – 11:00 Heats Course – Demo Runs
Friday 16th April 7:30 – 9:00 MC1 & WK1 Heats
11:00 – 12:30 WC1 & MK1 Heats
Saturday 17th April 8:00 – 9:30 Semi-final & Final Course – Demo Runs
9:30 – 12:30 MC1 & WK1 Semi-final & Final
Sunday 18th April 7:00 – 11:00 WC1 & MK1 Semi-final & Final
14:30 – 17:00 Extreme Slalom

We acknowledge the Friday schedule is relatively short due the restriction places on us in accessing water time and hence the Semifinal & Final course demo’s will run on Saturday morning.

Extreme Slalom:
We will be running the Extreme slalom on Sunday afternoon at the completion of the Canoe Slalom selection events and all competitors must attend an orientation (once off) conducted by PWS prior to the event.

If you are intending to compete in the Extreme Slalom, then you must nominate your interest when making your entry for the Canoe Slalom.

You can either use the provided boats (limited) or bring your own extreme slalom boat, if it meets the ICF criteria which is outlined HERE. There will be no time trials held at the events and the extreme slalom start list will be formed from the results of the Canoe Slalom event from Saturday’s racing.

Entry Fees:
Entry fee will include Extreme Slalom
– Entry Fee per class              $80
– Entry Fee for two classes      $120

Team Nomination*:
If you are competing for the 2021 Canoe Slalom Team selection you must select which team you are nominating for selection, by ticking the correct boxes.

*If you are nominating for multiple teams, for example Junior & U23, then please tick both boxes (Junior & U23)

The online system will allow you to purchase a ticket for the class/es you wish to compete in. Entires can be made HERE

Closing Date:
Entries will close on the Friday 9th April and no late entries will be accepted.

Training Opportunities:
The Canoe Slalom Performance Pathways program is working directly with PWS to organise some open slalom sessions from the 6th – 15th April to allow access to Whitewater prior to selection.

These sessions are being held on the below dates and to book in you must contact PWS directly to register and pay in advance.
