FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2024 ICF CANOE SPRINT WORLD CUP AND PARACANOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Australia’s kayakers will have their last hit out this weekend before the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games at the Sprint World Cup and Paracanoe World Championships in Szeged, Hungary.

For Australia’s Paralympic hopefuls, it will be their last chance to book a spot on the plane to Paris, with final qualification for the Games on the line.

The Australian quartet of Mark Daniels (WA), Amy Ralph (WA), Kathleen O’Kelly-Kennedy (WA) and debutant Kaia Scholl (QLD) will all be vying for Paralympic qualification.

Paralympic medalists Curtis McGrath and Susan Seipel, and reigning world champion Dylan Littlehales will be looking to gain valuable international racing experience, having already been named on the Australian Paralympic Team for Paris 2024.

Australia’s Olympic bound sprint kayaking team will also line-up in Szeged, in their first international regatta of the 2024 season, and last races before the Paris Games.

For the 11-strong team, it will be an important event, with Olympic qualification on the line for their European counterparts.

Having already been selected on the Australian Olympic team for Paris, the Aussie 11 will be looking to pick up where they left off in the 2023 season, where they recorded their most successful World Championships campaign to date.
