PA releases approved Paris 2024 Olympic Nomination and Selection Criteria for Canoe Sprint

Paddle Australia has today released the approved the Paris 2024 Olympic Nomination and Selection Criteria for Canoe Sprint.

Aligned with the ICF Olympic Qualification System (OQS), the development of this Olympic policy has taken over 12 months and we thank those who gave their valuable input into this process.

The draft copy was exchanged with the PA Board, before being submitted for final AOC Selection Committee approval.

Eleven quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were secured at the 2023 World Championships in Germany, with another chance to secure remaining quotas at the Continental Qualification event in early 2024.

The 2024 Paddle Australia Canoe Sprint GP2 and the Oceania Championships, and 2024 Paddle Australia Canoe Sprint Championships will serve as the nomination trial events.

The nomination process finalises in March 2024, at the end of the domestic season.

We take this opportunity to recognise the preparation and commitment that goes into readiness for selection, not only from the athletes themselves but also from coaches, family members, volunteers, discipline technical committee and officials whose support is invaluable.

We look forward to supporting our athletes to become the world’s best paddlers and people during their Olympic journey.
