As spring finally arrives, there is plenty of action in the paddling community. Paddle Australia is pleased to launch two new coaching courses, while local awards and grants are up for grabs, and the exciting Lea Extreme Race will go ahead in Tasmania. We have some great videos for you to enjoy, including a video diary from the 2019 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships, plus we check in on the preparations of our Paralympians.

The Paddle On Foundation is going strongly, with donations and applications continuing to come through. Foundation Coaching Courses for Flatwater and Canoe Slalom Launched!

Following the establishment of the Introduction to Coaching course in May, PA is pleased to announce that another two coaching courses, Foundation - Flatwater (which includes marathon, paracanoe, and sprint) and Foundation - Slalom, have just been launched. Play By The Rules Awards

If your Club has done some great work to help get through this period of crises, you should nominate for the 2020 Play by the Rules Awards. These Awards recognise outstanding initiatives which have contributed to safer, fairer and/or more inclusive sport, particularly during this pandemic.

Local Sporting Champions Grant
Do you know, or are you yourself, a coach, official or competitor aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships who could use with some additional support? Sport Australia has created the Local Sporting Champions program to provide financial assistance to these eligible people.

2019 Canoe Marathon Paddlers of the Year Announced

The Paddle Australia Canoe Marathon Technical Committee (PACMTC) recognises the results and achievements of canoe marathon paddlers every year and award the most outstanding with the Canoe Marathon Paddler of the Year. Congratulations to all the winners!
Throwback to the 2019 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships

Unfortunately the 2020 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships were cancelled for this year, but we are throwing back to a fun, amazing, and successful tour last year in Quiberon, France. Windsor Paddlesports Club's Grant Success
Windsor Paddlesports Club Inc. has been successful in securing a grant for $801,218 under the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Grant Funding program for the construction of a multi-purpose paddlesports facility which will benefit members and the local community.

2020 Lea Extreme Race

Australia’s premiere extreme kayaking race is on again for 2020. Hosted by the Tasmanian Canoe Club, the 2020 Lea Extreme Race will be held on Saturday the 12th of September.

Nestled in the foothills of Cradle Mountain, the Lea River provides natural flows down grade 3/4 rapids leading into Lake Gairdner. All monies raised are used by the TCC to help further the sport of whitewater kayaking in Tasmania.

Paddle Australia’s paracanoeists were hoping to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games this week, but with both the Olympic and Paralympic Games postponed until next year, there are another 12 months to train and get ready for the squad.
