In such a challenging year, it is especially important to recognise the contributions of people within the grassroots paddling community. The Paddle Australia Awards 2020 are taking place this evening (Friday 30 October), celebrating some of the people who have given so much to our sport over the past 12 months. All the details are below. Otherwise, it’s a bumper edition of Paddle Pulse, with tips for night paddling, webinars to help aspiring SUPers, and an insight into how some of our best canoe slalom paddlers started out in the sport.
Finally, Paddle Australia would like to acknowledge in particular the adversity faced in Victoria in recent months and to show our appreciation for the determination and resilience shown by Victorians. Here’s hoping that all of us around the country will be able to be back on the water this summer to enjoy the beautiful waterways of Australia.
With you on the water,
Paddle Australia

Mark Sundin won Paddle NSW's Image of the Year Award recently with this stunning picture taken during Sutherland Shire Canoe Club's Botany Bay dawn training run on a cold, foggy winter’s morning. Mark took the photo of the team racing back to Dolls Point just as the dawn broke lighting up the city skyline in a foggy amber glow.
