Paddle Australia welcomes increased investment into Olympic and Paralympic sport

Paddle Australia welcomes the announcement today by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Sports Commission that $283 million will be invested into high performance sport for the next two years.

With less than 30 days to go until the Paris Olympic and Paralympics Games, today’s news is good timing as PA is already preparing for beyond Paris, with funding to ensure work for LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic cycle can commence right away.

Paddle Australia CEO Phil Jones said today’s announcement is a positive step forward for the sporting sector.

“We want to thank the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Sports Commission for today’s announcement for further investment into Australian sport. It is great recognition of a united system and the work that has been collaboratively done on the 2032+ High Performance Strategy.

“While the focus remains on the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, our high performance teams are already looking beyond this Olympic & Paralympic cycle and have our eyes on LA 2028.

“Today’s announcement is a positive step forward, and we look forward to working with the Australian Sports Commission, through the Australian Institute of Sport to unpack the details, and identify strategies for further collaboration across the sporting system,” he said.
