AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Paddle Australia is pleased to confirm the Australian teams for the 2024 ICF Canoe Polo World Championships.

Set to be held in Deqing, China from the 15-20 October 2024, the event will see the best Canoe Polo athletes in the world come together for six days of high quality competition.

31 athletes and six coaches will represent Australia across four teams, with Open Women’s player Siobhan Goble noting the squad could not be more excited to represent the Australian Canoe Polo community on the world stage.

“When my name was called at the final selection event the overwhelming emotion I had was a feeling of privilege,” said Goble.

“What a privilege it is to be selected from a very competitive squad of incredible women and to have the support of the canoe polo community who give their time to coach us and put on the competitions which give us invaluable experience.”

Goble says the squad’s focus is to arrive at Deqing having met all their training goals and being fit, strong, fast and confident in their tactics.

“The Asian region has developed hugely in recent years, European teams will be as strong as ever and our close neighbours and rivals New Zealand who are a top 4 team put on a dominant display at the recent Oceania Championships, so we know we won’t have any easy games.

“If we can line up on the start line and know that we have left nothing to chance in our preparation then I’m confident the outcomes will look after themselves,” she finished.
