PADDLE AUSTRALIA LAUNCHES NATIONAL VOLUNTEER ACTION PLAN

In a significant step toward advancing the sport of paddling, Paddle Australia is proud to release the Paddle Australia National Volunteering Action Plan (PANVAP).

Volunteers are the heart and soul of grassroots sport and are crucial to the success of paddling in Australia as a whole.

Guided by the Paddle Australia vision, the plan intends to elevate our sport by supporting new, existing, and returning volunteers across the country in their diverse capacities and roles.

With volunteer appreciation, inclusivity and collaboration at its centre, the PA National Volunteer Action Plan is the outcome of the wider National Volunteer Project delivered by Paddle Australia since 2021.

Paddle Australia CEO Phil Jones is excited to pave the way for a positive future for volunteers within the sport.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of paddling, as in various other sports. Their unwavering dedication and selfless contributions form the foundation of the sport’s accessibility and enjoyment,” said Jones.

“This action plan comprises of a comprehensive series of initiatives for implementation between 2024 and 2028. Through collaboration with our State Paddle Associations and Discipline Technical committees, these initiatives aim to address various aspects of volunteer engagement, inclusivity, and collaboration, ensuring that our vision for volunteering is recognised.

“Paddle Australia is committed to these long-term goals and eagerly anticipates collaborating with the community to ensure a positive future for the sport and all its stakeholders.

“Volunteers enable Australians to paddle, but beyond that, volunteering creates opportunities for individuals to connect with one another and with their communities. It nurtures a sense of purpose and supports individuals to find a belonging.

“As a sport, we are committed to ensuring these benefits are felt, and that every individual can connect with our sport through volunteering in a way that suits them,” he said.
