Five Things to Know about the 2023 Paddle Australia Canoe Wildwater Championships

The 2023 PA Canoe Wildwater Championships are coming to Sydney this weekend with the two day event to be held at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium

With over 30 of the country’s top wildwater athletes prepared to tackle the Penrith course, it’s set to be an exciting weekend of canoe action, as many athletes vye for selection to the Australian Canoe Wildwater national team.

Familiar names on the start list include 2019 ICF Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships representative Robert Janiszewski, as well as Dita Pahl, who has represented the green and gold at four World Championships between 2015 and 2018.

Brothers Kaylen and Lachlan Bassett are also expected to pair up in the C2 event, having made the C2 final at the 2019 ICF Wildwater Canoeing World Championships. The Bassett brothers will be backing up from their competition at the 2023 Canoe Slalom Australian Open two weeks ago in Penrith.

  1. When is the 2023 PA Canoe Wildwater Championships being held?

The 2023 Paddle Australia Canoe Wildwater Championships are being held at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium from 4 – 5 March.

Athlete training and briefing will be on Friday 3 March, with competition getting underway from 8.30am AEDT on Saturday morning.
