Paddle Australia Staffing Update

Paddle Australia (PA) has today announced the resignation of Sport Operations Manager Lucy Warhurst.

Lucy was appointed to the newly created role of Sport Operations Manager 12 months ago. Joining the organisation at a time when we were emerging from the COVID 19 pandemic and the country was opening up again, she skillfully guided a return to national paddling competitions after a 2-year break.

As PA restructured to ensure a greater organisational focus on sport operations, including competitions, safety, education, coaching and volunteering, amongst other initiatives, Lucy led a reboot of the Discipline Technical Committees and established a highly credentialed Safety Advisory Group. Lucy has also overseen the commencement of reviews of the PA Coaching and Volunteering programs and begun work on a business plan for Paddle Education to support the objectives of the Strategic Plan for Paddling in Australia.

Lucy has taken the decision that she is ready for her next career challenge. PA is grateful to Lucy for the contribution she has made over the past 12 months and, whilst we are very sorry to see her go, we wish her every success in her future endeavours.

Lucy’s last day in the job will be Friday 30th September. PA will be taking the opportunity to ensure the organisation is properly resourced over the next few years, especially to deliver the priorities identified and agreed by the PA Board and State Paddle Associations in May this year.
