The AIS continues to prioritise coach development, awarding grants of up to $40,000 to 14 sporting organisations to help strengthen their coaching workforce.

The Coach Development Initiative Grants have been awarded for new or existing initiatives which support the development of high performance coaches.

Paddle Australia is among the recipients who have plans in place for the next 12 months.

Paddle Australia National Performance Director Kim Crane said the grant will be used to help support and grow the capability of the National Coaches, as the organisation continues to build its runway towards the Paris 2024, LA 2028, Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

Paddle Australia’s High Performance Program supports our Australian athletes to be the world’s best paddlers and people,” Crane said.

“Whilst athletes are at the centre of everything we do, the vitally important role the Coach plays is a recognised critical success factor. Our National Coaches invest heavily both on a professional and personal level to bring the best versions of themselves to the role on a daily basis, and they too need support. Sport is a human focused business and ensuring our people are consistently learning and are cared for. is imperative.

“Resources required to build capability of our talented coaches are limited, so we’re extremely grateful to receive this AIS Coach Development initiative support and look forward to delivering meaningful professional development for our National Coaches, so they have an opportunity to keep growing and progressing.” she said.

The AIS will continue to track the progress of each organisation and conduct an evaluation in June 2023 to ensure the outcomes have been achieved.
