Australia’s Canoe Slalom team have arrived in Krakow, Poland ahead of the second ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup this weekend.
It will be the first ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup held in Krakow since 2018, with more than 220 athletes set to take part in the second international event of the 2022 season.
The Aussies opened the international season in Prague last weekend, highlighted by Jessica Fox winning gold in the women’s kayak final, and Noemie Fox and Tim Anderson finishing fourth in the extreme slalom events.
For Anderson, the course in Krakow holds many special memories and he’s looking forward to picking up where he left off.
“It’s really good to be back racing again after a couple of years of no international competition,” Anderson said.
“It almost feels like we’ve picked up right where we left off.
“I’ve got a bit of a mixed record in Krakow – I had a really interesting experience at the Junior and U23 World Championships race there.
“So I’m looking forward to the opportunity to right a few wrongs in World Cup 2,” he said.
Having made her World Cup debut in Krakow seven years ago, Noemie Fox is excited to be racing in Poland.
“I like going back to a little bit of a smaller course, so I’m excited to compete in Krakow,” Fox said.
“I have so many great memories there – a couple of Junior and U23 World Championships, I did my first World Cup there in 2015 and made the final, so I’m really looking forward to it,” she said.
The ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup will get underway in Krakow, Poland on Friday 17 June, with the kayak and canoe heats.
