Paddle Queensland will host the 2022 Paddle Australia (PA) Canoe Marathon Championships on the Gold Coast from 22-24 April.

It will be the first time the Canoe Marathon community has come together for the national championships since they were last held at the Ascot Kayak Club in WA in 2019.

This year’s championships will see paddlers from the U10 category all the way to the 70+ category converge at Coomera Watersports Club on the Gold Coast.

“The PA 2022 Canoe Marathon Championships are the premier Canoe Marathon event on the race calendar and the Queensland paddle community is thrilled to have the event back on the Gold Coast,” said Paddle Queensland’s Executive Officer, Scott Sharple.

“The Nationals were last held on Coomera Lake in 2016 and we are all looking forward to a great weekend of racing since 2019.

“The event will showcase paddlers from eight to eighty across short and standard course events, ranging from 3.7 km for the Under 10s right up to 29.6 km for our Open competitors.

“For those new to the Canoe Marathon discipline, non-portage events are also available to ensure the entire paddle community are welcomed and included. Regardless of your chosen craft or ability we encourage you to enter and take part in a great weekend of racing,” Sharple said.

The Short Course events will be raced on Friday, before the Standard Course events are run on Saturday and Sunday, with the State vs State Short Course Novelty Race wrapping up the competition on Sunday afternoon.

Entries are now open for the Canoe Marathon Championships, with registrations closing on Monday 18 April. Please REGISTER HERE.
