Dear Wildwater Canoeing community,
If you have not read Newsletter’s 1 to 3, please click HERE to do so.
In the last newsletter it was communicated the scheduled Selection Competition on the
Goulburn River at Eildon in Victoria from the 7th to the 9th of January had to be cancelled.
I am happy to advise that Paddle Australia (PA) has secured the Penrith Whitewater
Stadium (PWS) in Penrith, NSW for a Selection Competition for National Teams to
compete at the International Canoe Federation (ICF) 2022 Wildwater Canoeing World
The 2022 PA Wildwater Canoeing Selection Competition will be held on the weekend of
the 5th and 6th of February. The draft program includes competition on Saturday the 5th of February with 2 x Sprint selection races in the morning at PWS, followed by classic race 1 in the afternoon on the Nepean River. On Sunday the 6th of February competition will include classic race 2 on the Nepean River.
PA has booked the PWS for training on both Thursday the 3rd and Friday the 4th of
February. There will be a 1-hour training session in the morning, and 1 hour training
session in the afternoon, on both days.
Please note this is a Selection Competition, but it is also a competition for all interested
Wildwater Canoeing paddlers to participate. The more entries the better, so please
everyone come along and get involved.
Registrations will open shortly. As soon as they are ready a link will be put on the PA
website, and sent via email to the Wildwater community distribution list.
Finally, all athletes/crews who have nominated to National Teams, and are prepared to
travel to the competitions, must confirm their nomination for selection by stating their
full name and the class(es) for which they wish to be considered and emailed to
email@example.com, including fulfilling all eligibility requirements by the extended
date of 15 February 2022.
PA is very much looking forward to the 2022 Wildwater Canoeing competition program
returning on the 5th and 6th of February at the PWS in Penrith, NSW.
Regards in paddling,
