Canoe Slalom Age Championships

Dear Canoe Slalom Community,

Paddle Australia (PA) is excited for Canoe Slalom paddling competitions to return for the 2022 season, commencing with the 2022 PA Canoe Slalom Age Championships from the 7th to the 9th of January in Eildon VIC. This is followed by the 2022 Canoe Slalom Oceania Championships and Selection competition from the 28th to the 30th of January in Penrith NSW, and the PA Canoe Slalom Australian Open (Aus Open) and Selection competition from the 25th to the 27th of February in Penrith NSW. Further details will be provided shortly regarding the Oceania and Aus Open competitions.

2022 PA CANOE SLALOM AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS – 7th – 9th January in Eildon Victoria

PA, Paddle Victoria (PVIC) and the Victorian Slalom Technical Committee (VSTC) are delighted to host the upcoming 2022 PA Canoe Slalom Age Championships being held on the Goulburn River in Eildon from Friday the 7th of January to Sunday the 9th of January 2022.

Please note the available classes to compete in the 2022 PA Canoe Slalom Age Championships include: K1M, K1W, C1M, C1W, C2M, C2W, and C2Mx.

Competition Schedule
Friday 7th January:
Free practice sessions at allocated times for everyone.
There will be course setting and demonstrations.

Saturday 8th January:
Qualification and Age Group Championship races for all ages.
It will be the best of two runs.
PVIC and VSTC hosted BBQ Welcome Dinner.

Sunday 9th January:
A & B Finals & Teams event.
It will be one run only.

Please note the schedule and program of available classes for the 2022 PA Canoe Slalom Age Championships is subject to change at the discretion of the competition organisers. All paddlers and officials should consult the Official Programme posted in the Compiling area at the race venue each day of the competition. Any changes made will be announced at the briefing session. Any last minute changes will be broadcast during the course of the day.

Entry Details
You must be a member of Paddle Australia to enter this competition, or you can get a day membership to participate.

The VSTC reserves the right to refuse late entries, and no entries will be accepted on the day of competition.

Please note you need to be a full-time student, studying at either primary or secondary level, to be able to contribute points to the competition school trophies. You will also need to nominate a club you wish to attribute any points to for the overall club trophies. This can be completed at the time of registration.

COVID-19 Update
The Victorian government requires record keeping for every person that attends the 2022 PA Canoe Slalom Age Championships for longer than 15 minutes. These records will help with any future contact tracing that may be necessary in slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Please ensure that all attendees comply with any restrictions or limitations imposed from time to time by the local organising committee, the venue/facility management, and the state government legislation at the time of the competition

Welcome Dinner
The Welcome Dinner is a BBQ being hosted by PVIC and VSTC on Saturday the 8th of January and anyone who wishes to attend will need to book in advance by using the following link HERE.

This competition is only possible with the commitment of many volunteers and the cooperation of canoeing clubs, schools, the VSTC, Outdoor Education Group (OEG), Murrindindi Shire Council and the Murray Goulburn Water Authority. The organisers take this opportunity to thank those who support the event through sponsorship & by acting as officials, helping with the course construction and event set-up, the important pack-up, and the administering of the event.

On-site Camping
The Outdoor Education Group (OEG) will be available for camping for Friday the 7th to Sunday the 9th of January. Bookings will be taken separately using this link HERE. Please note that prior to the 7th of January the OEG is not available for camping.
