2021 PA Canoe Sprint Championships – Newsletter 8

15 June 2021

Dear Canoe Sprint Community,

Four weeks ago, Paddle Australia (PA) in conjunction with Paddle South Australia (PSA) hosted the 2021 Paddle Australia (PA) Canoe Sprint Championships (Sprint Championships) from 19-23 May at the incredible West Lakes in Adelaide, South Australia.

PA wishes to say THANK YOU to everyone involved including athletes, coaches, parents, families, and supporters. We also wish to thank the wonderful officials and volunteers. Without their time and experience PA cannot possibly run competitions and events at a high level for our united paddling community.

This year for the Sprint Championships PA/PSA had support from our partners and sponsors the ASC / AIS, SA Government, Events SA, City of Charles Sturt, Mister Doors, 776 BC, Stryker Recovery and local media.

Paddle Australia boasts a great group of dedicated volunteers who always go above and beyond for the betterment of our sport.  This year, they went even further.  We were so proud during the event to celebrate National Volunteers Week, paying tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who help make competitions like this possible.  Check out the video below celebrating our great volunteers.

It is especially important for PA to learn from every national event what we did well, what we can improve, and what will take our future events to the next level.

We urge everyone in our community to complete this survey so that we get the most accurate feedback and learning from:

    • Participating athletes
    • Coaches
    • Support staff
    • Officials and volunteers
    • Family and friends
    • Supporters

The survey closes this Monday 21 June at midnight.

Results from the survey will be published the week of 5th July.

PA/PSA was fortunate to partner with Rowing Australia/Rowing SA to enable resources and equipment to be shared and experts to Live Stream the entire 2021 Sprint Championships. The Live Streaming show cased our great paddling event to a wider audience and enabled the PA competitors’ family, friends, fans, and supporters to follow your progress. You can go back and watch all races from the event via the PA FaceBook page.

The 2021 Sprint Championships was captured not only via Live Stream to homes across Australia and the World, but also by renowned local photographer Carolyn Cooper. To see more of Carolyn’s work and access photos at no cost to PA competitors and their families please click the link HERE
