Canoe Slalom Technical Committee are responsible for the direction of Canoe Slalom within Australia. We would like to introduce you to their new Chair Ms. Sarah Forsythe. Ms. Forsythe’s appointment was ratified by the AC Board in January 2018, after the retirement of Ms. Lucy Williams

Ms. Forsythe is honoured and excited to be appointed as Chair of the Canoe Slalom Technical Committee and is looking forward to working with the committee.

Ms. Forsythe would like to thank Ms. Williams for the contribution she has made to the discipline.

A few parting words from Lucy

“As the departing Slalom Technical Committee Chair I am very pleased to welcome Sarah Forsythe as the new Chair. She is well known to the slalom community as a long-standing member of the Canoe Slalom senior team having represented Australia at World Championships and World Cups. Acting as coach, she has been wonderfully supportive of the junior and under 23 athletes. Sarah’s experience and perspective as a former athlete is of great value to the committee.

Over the past twelve months the committee has been active in establishing a new format for the National competitions, in particular the Junior Championships, formerly known as the Schools Championships, with a view to increasing participation and improving the skill development opportunities for junior athletes. Promotion of new venues for slalom competition has also been a key committee objective. Under Sarah’s leadership I am confident the committee will to continue to develop these plans as well as bring new ideas for promotion of canoe slalom across Australia.”

On behalf of the Canoe Slalom paddling community we congratulate Ms. Forsythe on her appointment and we thank and wish Ms. Williams best of luck for her future endeavours.
