Australia picks up bronze on final day in Bratislava

Australia has picked up another medal on the final day of the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, with a bronze in the U23 K1 teams event.

Jessica Fox, Noemie Fox and Kate Eckhardt finished third behind the Czech Republic and Great Britain.

Once again the Australian team was dogged by 50 second penalties, with several of the teams posting fast time only to be taken out of medal contention by the missed-gate penalties.

Australia finished with two medals for the Championships, with Jessica Fox winning gold in the U23 K1, her fourth consecutive gold medal in that event, and the 11th of her U23 and Junior career.

It was the last time Fox will be eligible for the under-age event.
