Change of venue for National Wildwater Championships

Unfortunately due to forecasted water releases there is now a need to change the venue for the National Wildwater Championships.

Organisers were advised today in telephone discussions with the Murray Darling Basin Authority personnel that the prediction for the next 2 weeks releases out of Burrinjuck Dam on the Murrumbidgee is only 500 megalitres per day which is far too low to be able to race.

Having reviewed potential other rivers in both NSW and VIC the organising committee find that most rivers are running below minimum levels other than the Goulburn at Eildon therefore it has been decided to run the whole 4 day carnival of paddling at Eildon which will include the National Championships, both sprint and classic individual and team events and also additional selection races in both sprint and classic.

One of the highlights this year will be the resurgence of C1 and C2 racing, and the ability to double up in the sprint events.

Events will still commence on the 27th December and will be completed on the 30th December, and essentially there will be little change from the program especially for the first 2 days.

There is available camping at the OEG (Outdoor Education Group) at $20 per person per night so if you require this please contact Chris Wharton by phone on 0400 043313 or via email at optimal@pacific.net.au

A more detailed program of event timing will be emailed to all participants who have entered online.

For further information on the program please email Tony Misson tmisson@iprimus.com.au
