2017 Ocean Racing National Championships

This year, we are trialling something new. The 2017 Ocean Racing National Champions will be awarded from combined points achieved from the Australian Ocean Racing Series as of your age on 1st January 2017.

This is how it will work:-

U18’s – the best of 9 stars of races with a minimum of 3 races to be completed

U23’s, Opens and all Master’s Categories* – the best of 12 stars** of races with a minimum of 3 races to be completed.

In the event of a tie on points, then the results from “The Doctor” in Perth will be the deciding race.

How the star’s work:-

The winner at each event will get the points allocated below based on the star rating. Each subsequent place getter will get 1 point less.
In events with less than 100 competitors the gap between places will be 2 points.
• 4 Star events – Starts at 1200 points Indicates full points used when competed in more than 12 stars
• 3 Star events – Starts at 900 points Indicates partial points used when competed in more than 12 stars
• 2 Star events – Starts at 600 points
• 1 Star events – Starts at 300 points
