Entries will close at 9pm, 26 Dec 2014.

The Be Active WA State 10 km Singles Championships is a chance for all paddlers to have a good , though not too arduous, work-out between Christmas and New Year.

The racing is based on classes ( Craft / Age /Gender ) rather than our normal racing divisions. Medals will be presented at the end of year function to the class winners with a Perpetual Shield for the Fastest Male and Female Paddler. Extra paddler of the year points for those doing well.  Doubles will be in a separate class.

The long 10 km course is two laps of the main regatta lake and the warm up lake, with a short finishing lap. Guppy and Novice paddlers can do a 4 km course around Sports Island plus the finishing lap.

The long 2 km straight from the start allows the faster paddlers to establish an early lead and hopefully maintain it around the following turns and down the shorter, narrower and shallower back straight. With 2 bridges squeezing groups together the tactical paddler can often steal a boat length or 2  on  faster paddlers.

The pontoons in the warm up lake offer the spectators and photographers the ideal viewing platform to watch the action unfold up close.

All paddlers paddling in a U14 class, born in 2000 or earlier must wear a PFD.

Champion Lakes Boating Club – Canoeing is providing Après Race food so please support them for a post-race snack.
